Surf spots in Mauritius

Mauritius is a small paradise full of surf spots for all levels.

Surfing is almost year-round, although the best period is during the winter, from June to September.

You will find here the list of the spots we are working on.

Tamarin Bay

Main spot of the surf school since our premises are located there. It is a medium sized beach break, offering more left-handed surfing although sometimes right-handed surfing is possible. The spot works with southwest swells which orientation is around 215°, it works almost all year round. It’s a fun wave, suitable for surfers of all levels.

Black Stone

As its name suggests, it is a wave breaking in front of a point of black rocks. It’s a long straight line in a strong southwest swell. Waves between 1 and 3 metres can be surfed on it, favourably at low tide. It is sometimes tubular, but it is above all a manoeuvrable wave, accessible to experienced surfers.

Ti reef

Being the only beachbreak on the Pointe du Morne, it is an ideal spot for beginners. It works in south / southwest swell without wind, rather at low tide. It’s a long straight, which varies between 0.5m and 2m and can be surfed without difficulty. It is far from the edge (15mn rowing), so it is wise to go there by boat. Beware, by strong swell, you will have to row hard against the current to reach the peak.

Patin rouge

It is a left that breaks along a reef next to the great pass of the morne. It works in a South / South-West swell and is surfed between 0.5m and 2m at high tide (watch out for the reef). It is strongly advised to go there by boat although the wave is accessible by rowing for the brave (25mn rowing, be careful with the current for the return).

Manawa

Fun wave, accessible for beginners, which can be surfed between 0.5 and 1.5m in a south / south-west swell without wind. Boat mandatory to access it and during all your session, the current can be very strong.
